Arena Quiz! Rogue Arena Guide with MrShine – Part 1

Watch. Your. Back. In this Rogue arena guide I’ll be taking you through a draft with the Rogue class – follow along and make your picks with me and we’ll tally up our scores at the end of the video!

Taking the Quiz

I discuss this information within the video, but here’s a fast n’ dirty version of the rules:

  • Start at 100 points
  • Subtract the # of points depicted on the card you chose from your remaining point total if your choice differs from mine
  • Treat every new pick as if you picked identically to me up until that point
  • Have fun! (or at least fake it)

Comments?

Do you think I made a mistake somewhere?
Want to tell me your predictions for how well this deck will do?
Was I undervaluing a specific card?
Would you like me to clarify something?
Do you have a suggestion on how I can improve future quiz videos?

I’d love to hear about all of these things and more below in the comments section and I’ll do my very best to respond in a timely manner.

I hope you enjoyed the quiz video this week! The second part of the Rogue arena guide will be up on www.hearthstoneplayers.com next week Wednesday, where we see how the run did and will take a more in depth look at the key moments of various games.

Enjoyed this article?

Hello hello! My name is MrShine, I'm a 28 year old from Wisconsin who's been in love with games of all sorts for as long as I can remember. I've dabbled in trading card games like Magic The Gathering before joining the Hearthstone beta late in 2013. Since then I've played in Hearthstone's arena almost exclusively, notching over 100 arena runs under my belt and recently becoming an "infinite" arena player with a win rate of over 70%. I enjoy discussing Hearthstone almost as much as I enjoy playing it, and -if you can put up with my occasional indecisiveness- I hope you'll find my videos both entertaining and educational.

My choices followed a total different route and the final deck was : -Deadly Poison x3 -Worgen Infiltrator -Zombie Chow x2 -Betrayal -Eviscerate -Acidic Swamp Ooze -Bloodfen Raptor -Bloodsail Raider -Dire Wolf Alpha -Sunfury Protector -Blade Flury -Earthen Ring Farseer – Questing Adventurer -Arcane Golem -Blood Knight -Si:7 -Yeti -Cult Master -Dwarf -Spellbreaker -Tadzingo -As. Blade -Assassinate -Venture Co -Ogre -Champion -ravenholdt
I think it is vastly superior, despite your deductions, as it has more than enough early game to apply pressure. The charge of the golem to finish the game if it goes that way,the AoE, the solid 3 drops to offer transision, the best 4 drops, and enough late game (6) if we take into account the attacking orientation of the deck. Moreover, it lacks the luckluster 3x Sunfury (3x 2/3 mostly) and the underwhelming Wailing soul (3/5 for 4). I’d greatly appreciate your feedback though.

I think your deck looks quite good as well, arguably a better deck overall in some cases. At the time I think the arcane golem pick would have been a bit of a reach (although it paid off looking at deck construction) and I do think my molten giant pick would have been better than the blood knight to add one more strong late game minion to the deck.

Sometimes that’s how the arena rolls too I suppose – a “wrong” pick will ultimately create a better deck, just like a “right” pick at the time misses out on potential synergy the draft offered.

I wish there was a replay ability for the arena where you could “redo” a game with the slightly different version of the deck you could have created…obviously that is impossible but I always wonder 😀

Very suprised you didn’t pick the blade fury. You already had one deadly poison and it was very likely you could pick up more and/or assassins/perditions blade later in the draft. Given all the spot removal in rogue decks, this would have been a unique effect to fight back when losing the board early.

Thx for the work, I will miss the weekly video when you have finished all classes.
Would have picked the Blade flurry and I am not sure about the second Zombie Chow.
You dont have a lot of card draw and you have to finish the games quick those Zombies could end as a dead card on your hand later. I think you will end between 5:3 or 6:3 if your early game works out. Pray for the coin
