  • Puzzle Time! Puzzle 21 – Grim Position
    04/28/2015
Arg, yes I see the alternative solution that was brought about with my meddling of the puzzle! I'll see if I can update the puzzle this evening. Thanks for pointing it out!
  • Puzzle Time! Puzzle 20 – Zero Damage Off Lethal
    04/20/2015
Haha, it could be both! I kept it medium because the mechanic of triggering a weapon's deathrattle by replacing the weapon is something that might not be immediately apparent to players, similar to how deathrattles triggering when a minion is returned to your hand when you already have 10 cards. But yes if you understand how Death's Bite works then I suppose this could fall under the 'easy' category :)
  • Puzzle Time! Puzzle 19 – Unbreakable
    04/17/2015
Yeah it was a bit of a problem for awhile...until we remembered Young Priestess :D
  • Puzzle Time! Puzzle 19 – Unbreakable
    04/13/2015
Yep! That's the alternate solution - good work!
  • Puzzle Time! Puzzle 15 – Alpha Assault!
    03/18/2015
It would work if we had coin, but we're one mana short with that solution.

Hah,looks like we stole your thunder! :)

Thanks again for the great idea!

I tested before running the puzzle - Faceless does not apply the additional +1 dire wolf buff on the copied minion - it would be a 9 attack boar, buffed to 10 when put next to the dire wolf - so just off lethal! :D
  • Puzzle Time! Puzzle 15 – Alpha Assault!
    03/14/2015
The Dire Wolf Alpha doesn't have charge, so that wouldn't work I'm afraid!
  • Puzzle Time! Puzzle 13 – Yes…YES!
    03/04/2015
It could be that I'm just bad at labeling puzzles :D I tend to consider uniqueness when it comes to difficulty, things that I think might not be as obvious as a way to solve the puzzle. Of course my brain might not work the same way as other people's so what's hard to me might be simple to someone else!
  • Puzzle Time! Puzzle 13 – Yes…YES!
    03/03/2015
Thanks Daren (both for the puzzle idea & the compliment), but to be fair others have been making puzzles before me too, so I can't take all the credit! :) Still I'm glad to see puzzles seem to be 'coming back' a bit.
  • Puzzle Time! Puzzle 13 – Yes…YES!

Sorry about that, I'll see if I can update the video tonight to include it.
  • Puzzle Time! #12 – 28 Years Bad Luck
    02/22/2015
Thanks for the comments! Yes, as mentioned in the article I knew that there was a way to deal more damage & spend less mana. As you mentioned there's a more efficient way to do it!
  • Puzzle Time! Article 5 (Puzzles 10 & 11)
    01/30/2015
I displayed explosive trap next to the hunter, so the intention is we know it's explosive. Because of this attacking will trigger the trap & the creeper will die, and we can't use the soulpriest to heal aggressively with our hero power because then we'll die when the trap triggers.

    01/29/2015
Yep that's another way to do it! Thanks for the kind words, I'm glad that you've enjoyed the arena quizzes from the past! I do have plans on making more, likely a bi-weekly thing instead of weekly but GvG quizzes will come "soon" :)
  • Hearthstone Players Showmatch: JulpaFTW vs RaFive
    01/27/2015
Oh, I only saw the one. Were there more? Ultimately though most missed lethals occur when a game is already all but won. There are occasionally pivotal misses that cause the player to lose later, but I can't recall anything that occurred like that here.
  • Puzzle Time! Article 4 (Puzzles 8 & 9)
    01/26/2015
yeah that was intentional - I put a note in the video that execute should be removed from solutions, because yes as you mentioned it was an unintended way to solve the puzzle. Basically pretend that it isn't there! :D

Thank YOU for sending the idea!
  • Puzzle Time! Article 4 (Puzzles 8 & 9)
    01/22/2015
Not easily! We could pretend the mage has played 2x copies of every other secret they have available to them so this is the only remaining secret it could be...or we could say Lorewalker Cho was played earlier and we bounced the ice barrier back to the mage and saw what card they played when they cast the secret... So there are obscure situations where the secret would be known...but yes it's mainly a construct for the puzzle.
  • How to Play Turns Two & Three in Arena
    01/21/2015
Great article! You spent a lot of time analyzing different situations, and as you mention it's not always possible to play around everything but it's often worth trying to squeeze just a little more value out of cards on the critical T2 & T3 turns. One thing I noticed is I differed from the Arena Coop on their minibot vs recombobulator decision. My thoughts: shielded minibot is almost guaranteed to survive until next turn. Mage ping is a win for us because we recombobulate it and the 2/2 will almost always become a little better. If they play a 2/3 we can run into the 2/3 with the minibot and recombobulate it, which again will almost always be better than a 2/2. If they play a 3/2 we win with a successful trade, and once again recombobulator will oftentimes help our remaining vanilla 2/2. Playing the recombobulator pretty much means it's going to trade 1 for 1 with almost anything that's played (+ is weaker against mad bomber) and then we're left with the minibot to deal with whatever he plays on T3. T3 minions more often have 3 hp, so it's less likely our minibot is going to clear whatever the enemy plays. We also miss out on the recombobulator's battlecry if we play it on an empty board. I know they ended up going with the recombobulator, but I actually think it was the wrong play. Funny how there can be so much behind seemingly simple turns.

@The_MrShine
Hello hello! My name is MrShine, I'm a 28 year old from Wisconsin who's been in love with games of all sorts for as long as I can remember. I've dabbled in trading card games like Magic The Gathering before joining the Hearthstone beta late in 2013. Since then I've played in Hearthstone's arena almost exclusively, notching over 100 arena runs under my belt and recently becoming an "infinite" arena player with a win rate of over 70%. I enjoy discussing Hearthstone almost as much as I enjoy playing it, and -if you can put up with my occasional indecisiveness- I hope you'll find my videos both entertaining and educational.
